WHEN DO I NEED TO USE A LIQUID NITROGEN DOSING KIT?
If you’re packaging a still or low-carbonation beverage, liquid nitrogen (LN₂) dosing is likely something you’ll need — and it’s worth understanding why.
A small drop of liquid nitrogen is added to each can just before seaming. As it rapidly evaporates, it creates internal pressure inside the can — strengthening the structure, improving stackability, and displacing oxygen to help protect your product’s quality and extend shelf life.
You’ll typically need LN₂ dosing if you’re packaging:
- Still or low-carbonated beverages — still water, cold brew, juice, wine, or anything without enough natural carbonation to pressurise the can
- Nitro beverages — where a nitrogen cascade effect is part of the drinking experience
- Products destined for stacking or export — particularly still liquids that need a rigid, structurally sound can for transport
- Oxygen-sensitive products — where LN₂ purging provides an added layer of protection for shelf life
Not sure if your product needs it? That’s a completely normal question — and it depends on your liquid, your packaging goals, and how your product will be stored and transported. Our team is happy to talk it through and give you a clear recommendation based on your specific situation.
